Portugal is a small country, but with considerable geodiversity, responsible for a significant potential in several mineral resources, such as copper, lead, zinc, gold, lithium, tungsten, uranium, tin, quartz, feldspar, kaolin, special clays and sands, ornamental and industrial rocks.
All this potential should be used to benefit the development of the country and the well-being of society, in an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable way.
To achieve this goal, it is essential to bring together companies, academia and research institutions in the search for innovative and inclusive approaches.
This is the essence of the Portugal Mineral Resources Cluster, working for the benefit of this sector and its almost 90 associates. Starting in 2009 with the natural stone subsector, it now extends to all types of mineral resources, with several national and international projects under development.
